I’ve been using homemade body scrubs for 3 years now. I have not used any store-bought scrub till now. Because, these scrubs are so simple, easy to make, versatile, natural and so beneficial for the skin. There is absolutely no need to get chemical scrubs. I’ve experimented with a lot of natural skincare, some were amazing some failed. But these scrubs have always been an absolute success!
Looks like a gooey mess but works like magic! I always thought that natural skincare looks too good to be true. That was before I started my own experiments and research. Remember that before this cosmetic industry started people relied on natural remedies and it did them good too. If you google a bit you will find that most celebrities have some kind of secret natural remedy that they use religiously.
The best body scrub recipe here
In my experience, these easy scrubs have topped my list of natural effective skincare. Today, I’m sharing another amazing recipe I’ve found that addresses so many problems like but not limited to
- uneven skin tone
- stretch marks
- dull skin
- dark spots
- acne
- dead skin
- and much more!
You need three simple ingredients which you most probably have in the kitchen. So, there’s no need to wait, you can try this now!
- Turmeric. This is the main ingredient. We all know what turmeric is. We have all heard about the benefits of turmeric from our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, etc. Turmeric is anti-bacterial and is super amazing for the skin. With regular use, it lightens/brightens the skin, reduces the appearance of stretch marks & acne, evens skin tone, has anti-aging benefits, gives glowy skin, and much more.
- Sugar. is added as an exfoliant. The crystals help in scrubbing off dead skin.
- Coconut oil. This is my favorite body moisturizer right now. It is really beneficial for the skin. Because it penetrates the skin like no other! But, you can substitute this with any other oil you want.
You can google the ‘benefits of turmeric and coconut oil’ for more information. Let’s get cooking! This recipe will last for about 2 months depending on use.
Step 1: Take about 2 cups of sugar and 1/4 cup (or 4 tablespoons) of Turmeric.
Step 2: Slowly add in coconut oil till you get the texture of a scrub.
If you have dry skin add more oil if you have oily skin add less oil. For normal skin just add oil till you get the perfect texture of a scrub i.e not too oily, not too dry. That’s it! How crazy simple is this scrub?!
This is the consistency I like for my scrub.
How to storage the scrub
Store at room temperature, in an airtight container away from water. When you want to use it, take how much you need in a separate bowl so you don’t get water inside the main jar. The reason being that water encourages bacteria growth. This scrub can actually be stored for a long time, but hopefully, you’ll be able to finish this batch in 2 months.
Tips on how to use body scrub
Use 2-3 times a week for best results. Scoop it out and gently scrub on your body. Really massage it on to the skin. Leave it on for as long as you can, 5, 10, or 20 mins. Then wash off with warm water, don’t use soap. As soap will wash away the turmeric completely.
Your skin will be tainted yellow but that’s okay the color will go away after a while. Preferably use it a night so you don’t have to worry about looking yellow all day. By next morning the color will be gone. I really really enjoy this scrub. It’s like a mini spa experience for me. I feel like a bride again! haha
I will be using this regularly as I have some stretch marks I want going. Also, if you’re pregnant or just given birth, I suggest you incorporate this scrub as it will help with stretch marks and pigmentation. I hope you all enjoy this scrub as much as I do.
Leave a comment if you’ll be trying this out, it will be a motivation for others to get up and try too. I will be posting regularly so if you want to ask me anything, or suggest a post do leave me a message and I will try to write about it.
