For The One Millionth Time, ''I'm a Muslim woman and I'm NOT oppressed!!''

This is going to be a rant. A huge rant.

I'm done with people thinking Muslim women are backwards and oppressed. The oppressed label is forced upon us. We are not oppressed, far from it. We are actually happy, with a stable peaceful mind. We love our religion, we love our hijab, we CHOOSE to live a certain way. Nobody forces us.

Nobody MAKES us do anything. We are doing what we WANT to do. On the contrary, in many countries Muslim women are forced to take off their hijab. There are so many hate pages on Facebook that want the Niqab to be banned.

What kind of a world are we living in? Women have all the freedom to take off their clothes and nobody has a problem with that, but when they want to cover up (out of their own free will) they are ridiculed in public. Any sane person will question this disgusting mind-frame. You have the freedom to run around almost naked, but it's a crime to wear hijab?

Another thing I have noticed, is as soon as people see a Muslim hijabi woman, they assume her to be an inactive, unambitious, woman with no voice or role in society. Let me tell you Muslim women play a very integral and fully functioning role in our society.

I will not stand to listen to this total bullshit next time. I'm a very ambitious person, and I strive to achieve many things. I wear hijab, and hijab has no relation or has any affect on my artistic ability or any ability for that matter.

What women choose to wear is a personal decision. And, hijab is not forced upon us by our fathers, husband's or brothers. Believe me when I tell you, we have alot of opportunities to take off our hijab if we wish to. But, we don't want to. We WANT to wear it, why is that so hard to believe?

We actually feel empowered wearing hijab. So next time you open your mouth talking about how Muslim women are so oppressed, please shut up and open your teeny tiny brain and check out the real facts!

End of rant.

The title of this post reminds me of that movie 'My name is Khan and I'm not a terrorist'' lol.

  1. I can't believe people make such stupid assumptions!!! Muslim women are absolutely beautiful and their decision to wear hijab makes them even more beautiful. They realize their beauty and worth is based on so much more than revealing too much of themselves. I'm girl living in America and I have so much respect for your culture because it breaks my heart to see girls walking around half naked trying to gain attention from everyone. It is beyond disgusting and these girls have no respect for themselves! Sorry for the vent, but just wanted to share my thoughts! Have a great day :)

    1. Love your comment. Our thoughts are one and the same! <3 :D

Please, be nice. ♥
