Do It Yourself: Easy Homemade Body and Face Scrub

Alot of people keep asking me what I do for my skin care, what products I use and how I do it. I mostly like to use natural things for my skin, I don't believe in expensive body products cause they just don't do you much good and are full of chemicals which strip the skin of it's natural oils. I love LOVE using natural stuff with no chemicals.

Scrubs are necessary to exfoliate and remove the dead skin cells. Exfoliating your skin twice a week is necessary to keep your skin glowing, healthy and fresh.

Basic Salt and Olive Oil Scrub:

You will need:

3 tablespoons Salt
3 tablespoons of Olive oil
1 tablespoon of squeezed Lemon juice

You can increase the quantity if you want to but this mixture is usually enough to scrub the whole body.

Salt helps in removing the dead skin cells and exfoliating, Olive oil moisturizes the body and lemon juice is a natural bleach which gives a brighter softer skin.

Mix the ingredients together and you have a ready body scrub!

After you rinse in the bath, apply the mixture to your body in slow circular movements. Be gentle and do not irritate your skin with over scrubbing in the same area. Be careful though! As you might slip in the shower because of the oil. Rinse of your body in warm water and notice the difference! Whole body is moisturized and feels so soft and clean.

You can change this basic recipe and add many other ingredients anything you like.
I made this yummy smelling coffee scrub just by replacing the Salt with Coffee.

Coffee Scrub:

3 tablespoons coffee
3 tablespoons Olive oil
1 tablespoon vanilla essence or lemon.

This scrub smells so good and just wakes my senses up. Great for mornings!

  1. I wanted to know at what exact time should I apply? The way we normally take a bath or like before or after applying our body shower gel? :S
For how many minutes? And is there any side effects? Because I've light pimples on my face! :)

  2. Apply this mixture in the shower after you take a rinse. Just take a rinse and start exfoliating with this scrub. After you finish applying go back in the shower and rinse off with warm water and that's it. I say don't use a shower gel, just do this without any thing. Your skin will have a little olive oil left on the skin but that's good, you won't need to use a moisturizer after your bath cause your body is exfoliated and moisturized. There is no time limit, just wash off immediately after applying to your body. Remember to use slow circular movements. For the face be very CAREFUL. Do not over scrub. Be extremely gentle while doing it on your face.If you have pimples first try doing this on a small part of your face to see how your skin reacts to it.
